Several weeks ago I opened the net wide and left it open for two days before closing it again.
During that time I saw a Monarch Butterfly flying around our garden and, when I checked, yes there were eggs on these plants. At that point I closed up the net again, the idea being that there were probably enough caterpillars going to hatch and I didn't want the plants eaten back to nothing by too many caterpillars.
It's difficult to count exactly how many caterpillars are on the plants, right now, however I'm guessing way more than 20. They've grown really big and are doing well.
Once they have created their chrysalis's I'll endeavour to move them indoors until the butterflies emerge. Then I'll leave the net closed until the plants regenerate and will open the net again, after a few weeks, so that more eggs can be laid.
