We only have had six chrysalis's so far, with no more caterpillars coming on behind. In fact we've not seen a Monarch butterfly flying overhead for several seeks and there are no eggs on the swan plants.
Meanwhile our swan plants are growing very well, so by the time there are caterpillars to feed we'll have plenty of food.
The little girl that emerged today, took me by surprise because she came out so early in the day and was ready to go quite quickly. That first big glide they do, when they first try out their wings, is such a wondrous thing to see. Today I spontaneously clapped my hands, when I saw that glide.
As always, before our beautiful charges fly off to enjoy their butterfly lives, I have a little photo shoot with them.
Here, for you to enjoy, are the two butterflies we released yesterday and today.
