My aim was to stop butterflies laying more eggs on the plants, because there aren't many swan plants in my garden that are mature enough to feed caterpillars for an extended time.
As the days passed, a few caterpillars hatched and began to eat their way through the leaves.
But then more and more kept hatching and soon there were 12 caterpillars.
They grew well under the pink net until, two days ago, I noticed a wasp had got into the enclosure and had already sucked out one of the caterpillars.
I swung into action and removed the caterpillars from the plants, taking them indoors to plants I had put into the large caterpillar castle.
So there they now are. There are 11 altogether. Unfortunately one fell off the plant and has died however the others are going strong and, even in 2 days, have grown quickly.
