The picture above is the first. Don't you just love it when the caterpillars get to chrysalis stage? Seems quite an achievement given the predator problems.
Because we moved house in May, and our lives have not been the same since then due to major house renovations, the Monarch season has started unusually for us. Having said that, last year our Monarch season didn't begin until after Christmas because, at our previous house, the wasps took their toll and there were no eggs and no caterpillars, no chrysalis, until into January.
In the new year however, the season really started and eventually we ended up with a lot of Monarch charges, going right on through into July. So, it's now November and they start again.
Right now we don't have a lot of food for them, so I'm hoping the few caterpillars we do have will get through. It's always such a juggling act, having enough food for your caterpillars.
